Combustible biomass

Since 2006 the Moncada Energy Group has extended its operational activity in the field of renewable energy sources by deciding to develop a series of combustible biomass plants employing traditional technology (mobile grate boiler).

The first plant, in the final stages of authorization, is situated in the district of Agrigento and will be completed within the end of 2008. It has been planned to allow the use of various types of combustible biomass.

On completion of work on this plant, work on two more similar plant, in the province of Agrigento and with the same features will commence and they will be operative by 2010.

In order to monitor adaptability to geoclimatic conditions of the territory and the correspondent level of energy yielded, the Group has begun experimentation in the cultivation which produces biomass (Panicum Virgatum e Jatropha Curcas).

The Group at the end of this experimentation decided to acquire. In concession, another 85.000 hectars of land for the production of biomass.

35.000 hectars have been acquired through Biopower Ukraine a branch of the Group and a further 50.000 hectars are in process of being acquired partly in Monzambique and partly in Ghana.
